Tredworth High Street Murals by Mint + Mabel
In 2024, Tredworth High Street had over 60 buildings transformed with colour. Through the hard work of Tash Frootko and her team, High Street Tredworth has become a huge outdoor art gallery showcasing local and international artistic talent.
Frootko says "This is by far my biggest project to date. I wanted to make the High Street in Tredworth feel like a huge outdoor art gallery to reflect the community and its fascinating history and to make it the UKs most decorated street”.
Intrinsic to this project was the work of Mint + Mabel. The creative duo, Hattie and Erin, worked closely with Tash to create meaningful murals for the High Street, bespoke illustrations, marketing materials and a website showcasing all of Tash’s projects.
Tredworth High Street, One Stop Shop Mural
At the centre of the High Street, Mint + Mabel painted a large-scale mural outside the One Stop Shop. The celebratory mural was inspired by drawings and words from Tredworth Junior School pupils, who shared what they loved most about Tredworth. Mint + Mabel created a vibrant party scene in celebration of the Tredworth community which included the words and themes from the children.
Hattie says “From the moment we picked up our brushes, we were met with warmth, curiosity, and conversation. Within just a few days of starting our street mural, we knew we were part of something special. The response from locals was incredible. It’s so great to create work that brings people together and adds new life to public spaces.”
Barton and Tredworth School Competition Wall
As part of the wider project, Tash ran a design competition across seven local schools and asked the children to draw what they love about the area on an outline of the building. Out of hundreds of entries, seven designs were selected. Mint + Mabel turned the seven winning designs into large-scale murals based on the children’s original artwork.
“One of the most exciting parts of the Tredworth transformation project was helping inspire such talented little artists from the local area.” says Erin. “Imagine being 8 years old and seeing your drawing six feet high on a building!”
Verns Auto Parts
A familiar face on Tredworth High Street, Vern has run his auto parts shop for over 35 years. Tash transformed the storefront with bold shades of blue and green, while Mint + Mabel added a striking mural of one of Vern’s favourite cars above the entrance.
“The colours have made a huge difference,” says Vern. “The shop feels full of new energy. It’s a joy to come to work—and you can’t miss it now when you drive past. It really stands out.”

Collage workshop
Community involvement was central to the success of the project. Alongside the public artworks, Tash organised a series of creative workshops. Mint + Mabel led a hands-on collage workshop for the community where residents of all ages created their own artwork using colourful paper and shapes. The spirit of these community creations lived on in a striking, collage-style mural painted on the Vape Shop at the corner of Carmarthen Street.
